Cervini, we hardly knew ye!

Check out this article to read about four Rutgers players who recentlyh transferred to meet up with former coach Darren Rizzi up in Rhode Island. The two biggest names of the four are QB Chris Paul-Etienne and Papajohns.com Bowl hero Rob Cervini. I actually think it makes sense for all four to go, since none were likely to get to the top of the depth chart, but I hate losing the depth that they provided. Chris Paul-Etienne in particular could have completed for the backup QB position, but I think with Lovelace and Natale coming back with more playing experience he saw the writing on the wall and wanted to go somewhere that it's possible to make an impact.

I've been reading alot of mixed bag about the 2009 RU football recruiting class. The team has lost a handful of recruits over the past few months but also seems to have picked up a couple of quality guys and is in the running for some more top-ranked recruits.

Rutgers Media Day Ash Press Conference Highlights

On Sunday, Rutgers head football coach Chris Ash took the podium for his Rutgers Media Day press conference. In what was roughly a twenty-minute update and chat with the media, he covered quite a bit of ground, shedding some light on some new faces that are making an impact, slight changes in look and strategy, and giving an updated timetable on the quarterback decision. On the overall vibe of training camp, Ash feels its been "very productive" and that Rutgers has "improved in all areas of our football team." As importantly, the "overall health is good," in the sense that there haven't been any additional significant injuries in the past week. If the team hadn't improved in all areas something would truly be amiss, so that's expected.
