It's been a few days since the thorough dismantling of Syracuse, but that doesn't make it any less sweet. Aside from the two big plays, Hogue's run and the blocked punt, there really wasn't much reason to cheer if you are a Syracuse fan. Greg Schiano outcoached Robinson, once again making him look ridiculous in the process. I know a lot of RU fans can't wait to see Robinson get fired because of the disparaging and dismissive comments he's made about Rutgers in the past. But I hope the Orange keep Robinson and give him an extension. I figure that as long as he's there it means more wins on and off the field for Rutgers.

Congratulations to Kordell Young on being named Big East Offensive Player of the Week. That's a nice honor for someone who has worked so hard to get himself back into shape after knee surgery. Jamaal Westerman also had a dominating game for Rutgers on the defensive line. Today it was announced that Westerman has made the midseason list of candidates for the Ted Hendricks Award given to the best defensive end in the country at the end of the year. A few more games like the last one and Westerman will have as good a shot at the honor as anyone else.

Despite a couple early mistakes I thought Mike Teel played a strong game. He made some impressive throws and showed a considerable amount of poise in the pocket. I think that bodes well for the upcoming game against South Florida, a team that likes to bring the pressure.

South Florida is a tough team to get a read on. They've kind of sleepwalked through the middle of the season, but they're still dangerous in that Matt Grothe can lead them on a scoring drive at any time. Their defense has struggled more than in previous years and I think that they'll be susceptible to Rutgers ground game. I don't anticipate them falling for the trick plays that Syracuse fell for because they'll be on high alert after the Thursday night game from last year. Yet, although it's a road game, it's winnable. A win in another conference game with one to go will put Rutgers in good position to potentially finish second or third in the Big East, securing them a decent bowl bid when one considers that tragic state of the season just 4 weeks ago.
